Les Gets, the first non-smoking ski resort
Publié le 26 November 2023Les Gets, the first smoke-free ski resort!
Since December 2022, the ski area of Les Gets has decided to implement a new initiative for the well-being of its skiers: a tobacco-free ski area!
A first in Europe, the aim is to protect the health of skiers and the environment.
This means that smoking is banned throughout the resort: on the slopes, on the ski lifts, in the beginners' areas, in the rest areas, etc.
Signs have been put up all over the resort to make sure that all users are aware of this. The staff are also ambassadors for the approach, raising awareness among users.
5 smoking areas have been set up around the resort, notably at the top of chairlifts such as the Ranfolly chairlift. Ashtrays have also been installed to make customers aware of the number of discarded cigarette butts.
You're probably wondering why the resort has chosen this approach,
Every year, more than 3,000 cigarette butts are collected during the "Montagne Propre" citizens' day. Each cigarette butt pollutes around 300 litres of water!
So there's no doubt that the aim is to protect the environment.
This initiative has already been approved by the skiers, and will no doubt be repeated in future years!
